The Garden of Letters

In the field of new media criticism appear such concepts as database, net and garden. Metaphors taken from botany are intended to describe forked paths in hypertext and to uderline similarity of Internet and rhizome. The last notion was introduces into humanities in eighties (in 1972 "Anti-Edipus. Capitalisme et schizoprenie" was published). Attempts to take in all extent this kind of approach started since T. Berners-Lee net based experiments on text-image communication in early nineties.

Nowadays, for exemple, "path", "tree" and "root" are prominent nouns in description of new media aesthetics. In critics of hypertexts literarature there is also concept of a garden as an idea of nature cultivation. Technics became to be a second nature, the nature in which we immersed ourselves. We dive into branches, nosedive into trees, sink into roots.

The artist can be more than navigator in digital life, he (she) can establish a certain project which would be a database stimulates some of bavavioral actions (tropisms) and metabolism.

In the case to fulfill the idea of artifitial life and plantation of letters there is also a question of relation between word and life. I mean the word which life is taken from letters and the letters which are grown for giving plantation. "The Garden of Letters" is longterm and unattainable fulfillment of being which are confronted with the barriers of technics. "The Garden of Letters" is a simulation, an animation, a moving image, a word and a letter which are in symbiozis with its environment which is human. "The Garden of Letters" is a fascination of allusion of meanings, of hiden orders, of an infonity creativity process.
